Crockett Wins State Silver, Crushes DHS Record

June 3-4, 2011 - California Interscholastic State Championships - Senior and recently committed Eastern Michigan bound Keremiah Crockett qualified in the trials of the triple jump on Friday on his first attempt with his wind legal personal record of 48’1.5” to move onto the final on Saturday, seeded second.  After the first flight (three attempts), he was third with a best of 47’5.75” but right before his fifth attempt, Willie Alexander of Central jumped ahead of Crockett with a leap of 47’9”.  Responding like never before, Crockett unearthed a courageous and new DHS record jump of 49’1.75” to propel himself into the lead!  Finally, on the last jump of the competition, 50’+ jumper Marques Roberts of Otay Ranch hit a big one of 49’6.5” to win it.  Keremiah was the only athlete to set a personal record in the trials and then do that again (by over a foot, mind you) in the finals.  What a great way to cap off a brilliant career - a silver medal on the biggest stage there is, the CIF State meet.  Results    Finals Article    Trials Article
