June 1 & 2, 2012 - California Interscholastic Federation State Championships - Buchanan High School, Clovis - Senior Noria Mitchell finished up her Dublin High School track and field career in grand fashion on the biggest stage of them all - the CIF State Championships. May 19, 2012 - North Coast Section Tri-Valley Championships - Granada High School, Livermore - The Dublin Gaels Track & Field Team continues to roll through the championships season in commanding fashion, having 3 individual NCSTV Championships winners, 2 DHS record breaking performances, top 10 team performances by both genders, and 9 individual advancers and 1 relay team moving on to the NCS Meet of Champions next week. Senior Noria Mitchell proves that she is the sprint queen in the Tri-Valley, sweeping both the 100m (12.26) and 200m (25.25) in demanding performances. The surprise winner of the day came by senior Amanda Priestley, who won the 100m Hurdles in 15.99 after being seeded second coming in. Junior triple jumpers Myiesha Simmons (34’10.75” - advancing to NCSMOC) and Amanda Mponte (34’4”) both broke the school record of 33’5.75” set by Daniella Cincera in 2007 with freshman Tatiana Bouri just missing it (33’3”). Sophomore Danielle Moon will also be advancing in the 100mH (17.25 PR). For the boys, the team of seniors Anthony Egbujor, Artis Jones and Devin Trujillo and junior Adeola Olayomi will advance after taking 3rd in the 4x100m relay with a seasonal best of 43.04. Egbujor will also be advancing in two individual events - 100m (2nd - 11.11) and 200m (7th - 22.86) while Jones will be advancing in the 100m (4th - 11.19). DFAL 110m Hurdles champions Jabari Davis will also be moving on in this event, taking 3rd (15.43) after slipping out of the starting blocks. With 9 individual advancers and 1 relay team moving on, the 2012 team broke the previous record of most advancers to NCSMOC of 7 set by the 2011 version. Overall the girls team was 7th overall while the boys were 8th with the girls beating the likes of Acalanes, Alhambra, Amador Valley, California, Carondelet, College Park, Las Lomas, Livremore, Miramonte and Northgate while the boys defeated Acalanes, Alhambra, California, Campolindo, College Park Dougherty Valley, Foothill, Las Lomas, Livermore and Northgate just to name a few. May 9 & 11 - DFAL Championships - Campolindo High School - Moraga - After winning their first DFAL Championships meet in school history in 2011, the 2012 version would not disappoint, successfully defending their title! They were led by senior Jabari Davis who also defended his 110H championship winning in commanding fashion with a time of 15.17. He also won the Triple Jump, with a leap of 42’4.5” on his final attempt. Classmates Artis Jones and Anthony Egbujor also won individual titles, with Jones winning the 100m in a personal record of 11.00 (followed by Egbujor in 2nd with an 11.01) and Egbujor winning the 200m with a PR of 22.38 (followed by Jones in 2nd with a 22.57). They also ran on the title winning 4x100m relay team with classmate Jeffrey Leung and junior Adeola Olayomi. With the top 6 scoring in each event and advancing on the North Coast Section Tri-Valley Championships, the boys also saw many other great performances - Olayomi placed in both the 400m (5th - 51.82) and 200m (5th - 22.82 PR), senior Justin Pryor in the 800m (4th - 1:57.62 PR), junior Mitch Kless in the 300H (6th - 43.81), senior Nate Shaw in the Long Jump (5th - 19’10.5”) and Triple Jump (3rd - 41’7.25”), senior Jordan Davis in the Triple Jump (4th - 41’3.75”) and High Jump (5th - 5’10”), freshman Darrell Millinder in the High Jump (4th - 5’10”), junior Ondre Rudolph in the Discus (2nd - 130’9” - 16’ PR!), and the 4x400m relay team of senior Ed Achziger, Pryor, Jones and Olayomi.
The girls were led by senior Noria Mitchell, who continues to add to her already lengthy legacy at DHS and the DFAL. She won her fourth consecutive DFAL 100m title, breaking her own school record with a time of 12.26, and won her third consecutive DFAL 200m title, breaking her own DHS record with a PR of 25.23. Also advancing on to the NCSTV championships are senior Amanda Priestley (100H - 2nd - 15.57 PR & 300H - 2nd - 48.29), juniors Amanda Mponte (100H - 5th - 17.33 PR & Triple Jump - 3rd - 33’ PR) and Myiesha Simmons (Long Jump - 6th - 15’7”, Triple Jump - 6th - 32’5.5” and High Jump - 5th - 4’6”), sophomore Danielle Moon (100H - 4th - 17.31 PR), freshman Tatiana Bouri (Triple Jump - 5th - 32’8.25”), and the 6th place 4x400 relay team of Mitchell, senior Rebecca Beasley, freshman Alicia Tran and Preistley. Because of some scratches/injuries, Mponte will also be advancing in the Long Jump, Tran in the 200m, junior Eman Maghrbi in the 400m and freshman Alexxis Kelley in the 200m.

May 8, 9 & 11 - Diablo Foothill Athletic League Championships - Campolindo High School, Moraga - Tuesday is the Frosh/Soph Championships, Wednesday is the running events trials (excluding the relays and 3200m) and some field events finals (Long Jump Girls, Triple Jump Boys, High Jump Boys, Pole Vault Girls, Shot Put Girls & Discus Boys) and Friday are the running events finals as well the remainder of the field events finals (Long Jump Boys, Triple Jump Girls, High Jump Girls, Pole Vault Boys, Shot Put Boys & Discus Girls). Boys & Girls Beat Dougherty Valley; Simmons Wins 4 Events, Shaw Doubles Up
March 21, 2012 - DFAL vs. Campolindo & Dougherty Valley - Campolindo High School, Moraga - Competing in the first DFAL dual meet of the season, the Gaels showed that they are not one hit wonders from 2011 - they will be contending in 2012 as well. In a meet that went down to the last event, the defending champion boys team lost by a mere 4 points to Campolindo, but not without making a few statements along the way. They were led by senior Nate Shaw, who won both the long jump (19-7.5) and triple jump (42-10) and also placed in the shot put (37-9). He had help from classmates Anthony Egbujor (11.20/22.93) and Artis Jones (11.29/22.91), who won the 100 and 200, respectively, and were on the winning 4x100 relay team. In the process of battling Campolindo, both the boys and girls team defeated rival Dougherty Valley, with the ladder team having a 4-event winner in junior Myiesha Simmons. She won the 100 (13.09), high jump (4-10), long jump (15-8) and triple jump (33-8) versus DV. She was aided by fellow jumper and hurdler junior Amanda Mponte (PRs in 100HH [17.95], LJ [14-8] & TJ [32-3]) and hurdler Amanda Priestley, who had a major breakthrough in the 100HH, running 16.34 which was well over a full second better than her previous best. February 25, 2012 - Scrimmage - Granada High School, Livermore - Junior Ondre Rudolph had a phenomenal day, setting four personal records in the maximum allowed events for a track and field athlete. He became the first thrower this early season to break the century mark in the discus, heaving it 100-8. His other personal bests were the shot put (31-4.75), high jump (5-0) and 100m (12.03). Classmate Myiesha Simmons had a near record breaking day herself, almost setting the DHS record in the triple jump with a leap of 33-8, her first time doing the event! She also had personal bests in the high jump (4-10) and 200m (28.54). February 11, 2012 - Scrimmage vs. Bishop O’Dowd & Skyline - Dublin High School, Dublin - Running in their first home meet of the season, the Gaels ran off the dust of their spikes/throw shoes to set plenty of personal bests. This was also the first meet for many of the fresh newcomers of the team. Sophomore sprinter Zachary Camacho set PRs in three events (12.49 100m, 26.34 200m & 64.3 4x400 split) after taking a nasty spill in the 4x100m relay. Classmate Samantha Atendido also set PRs in both of her events, putting the shot 19-7 and heaving the discus 61-2.5. Also setting PRs in both of his events was junior Zachary Warzyniak, running 2:25.58 for the 800m and splitting 62.0 in the 4x400. December 24, 2011 - Senior Noria Mitchell has been mentioned in the 100m and 200m Northern California Girls Preview for 2012 by the Conning Tower. Mitchell capped off her 2011 campaign with a 6th place medal at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions in the 200m, two spots away from making it to the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships.
